Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Stress Care of New Jersey’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is designed as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization for individuals who are struggling with severe mental health and addiction symptoms who have recently been hospitalized, or to help individuals prevent the need for hospitalization. Adults may be admitted directly to PHP or stepped down from a higher level of care.
Our PHP offers the structure of an inpatient program without having to stay in a hospital. The program provides a vital alternative for those who do not require inpatient treatment, need intensive follow-up after inpatient stay, or lack enough support at home to be successful as an outpatient. It also eases the transition from inpatient to home by offering on-site day treatment in a comfortable setting.
Treatment consists of group therapy, educational groups and prescriber oversight provided in a structured environment to assist patients in achieving their goals for recovery.
Specific features of the program include:
- An on-site program providing structured, and short-term treatment during the day for acute symptoms stabilization.
- Close Initial full psychiatric evaluation and continued monitoring by a prescriber for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).
- Group therapy, skills training and psycho-educational groups with separate tracks for Mental Health and Addiction Issues.
- Multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals including master’s-level clinicians
- Discharge planning for follow-up treatment after leaving the program
- Lunch provided daily for its participants.
- Allows for All Insurances to be part of this program
Program Structure:
Check In (30 minutes):
During “check in” each client will be provided the opportunity to discuss their mood, current concerns, and any problems they may have experienced since the last session. Clients will also be asked to rate their levels of depression, anxiety, and anger which will help to lead the topics for the day.
Group Psychotherapy (60 minutes):
This group will be a discussion to support members in understanding their feelings. Additionally, while interacting with other participants, clients will have the opportunity to learn new ways to cope with their symptoms and share advice and experiences with others. Each psychotherapy group is facilitated by a Licensed Clinician in order to support each individual in gaining the greatest benefit from the session.
Psycho-Educational Group (60 minutes):
This group process is designed to teach new coping skills, educate on symptoms of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, improve social skills, and identify healthy activities and alternative responses to triggers identified. Psycho-educational topics will also include anger management, communication, healthy relationships, symptom management, conflict resolution, relaxation, CBT techniques, emotional regulation, journaling, safety planning, and more.
Afternoon portion consists of 3 groups:
These groups will cover a multitude of topics such as wellness/mindfulness, creative arts, job skills, and medication management, to name a few.
Clients will also be assigned an individual therapist that they will work with on a weekly basis, in conjunction with group activities.
